Komet has adjusted so well to our house. She is completely housebroken, can sleep downstairs sans crate, and has not a touch of separation anxiety when we leave. God has been very good to our family with Komet and other little things that have been happening. I’ll go into more detail with that in a later post.
Kyla and I went grocery shopping today and the grand total was 40 dollars– that is all of the weekly/biweekly staples and 5 lb. of ground beef. Fresh Express and Dole ready-made salad mix is 2/$5.00 and F.E. has a coupon for $1.00 off 2 bags. Great deal! There weren’t any manager special salads though! Shucks.
Ah… I am totally frustrated with this huge ball of yarn mess that I have. I was crocheting a blanket doubly strand and it was too think. I don’t know the right way to unravel an afghan with double threads except to yank it out. So, yanking done, it’s a mess. I’ll figure it out. There’s no way I’m wasting 8 dollars worth of yarn!
It’ll be finished by July! Now I’m on to another project to work on for November.
I don’t think I have ever [okay, almost ever] saw a product on the net and said I want. Check this out…

They extend the ‘life’ of onesies and other clothing. This is going on my wish list/buy next pay list. Kyla is at least a size bigger on top because of her torso length. She’s still in 6-9 month pants and then in 12 month tops. OOO! I’m excited.
My dear hubby sent me a link earlier to a site [Boomer in the Pew]. The gentleman there is giving away a FREE really, really, did I say really? nice Bible in celebration of their first year. Stop on by, follow the rules in regard to the giveaway, and give a shoutout to Mr. Porter. There are lots of great reads on the site. The deadline for the contest is March 16, so act quickly!
We welcome Miss Comet Komet to our family. She is a sweet 2.5 yo Beagle with a great disposition. She is actually upstairs now napping on my bed. She is very nice with Kyla and loves on me. I am sure she’ll be just great with Kris. He misses her already since he had to work shortly after we picked her up.

Since Kyla is sound asleep, I thought I’d steal away a few moments to blog. I’ve been thinking about some projects that I’d like to take on both around the house and with yarn!
- Once it warms this week, I’ll ask Kris to help me paint the middle bedroom and put up ‘new’ curtains in our bedroom.
- We’re looking at a dog we saw on www.petfinder.com tomorrow. Pray that we can be a forever family for Comet or other shelter dog.
- I’m going to tackle a baby ripple afghan for a dear internet friend expecting a baby boy in July. Pray that she continues to have a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery.
- I need to organize and purge some unneeded baby clothing. I’ll donate the clothing to the local Goodwill or Salvation Army. I encourage everyone to give a little extra during this time. It is more blessed to give than to receive.
- I’m also going to tackle the downstairs by grouping the ‘trash’ and boxes to ready for Spring Cleanup. As a motivation for our family, I’d like to purchase some shelving for hubby’s computers and hobbies downstairs.
- I’ve been making it a goal to develop and follow a budget for the rest of the year. So far, it has proven to be such a blessing! More money in the budget means more room for giving to others.
- Hubby and I are still reading through the Bible this year? How is your progress? I pray that you have also continued.
- I am still praying about what I should focus upon [save Christ] during the Lenten season. We are not Catholic, but I admire the self-sacrifice and denial. It will give 40 days of intense study and prayer and devotion. I think it may pertain to service for others. As you may have or may not have noticed, that is something that is very, very much on my heart lately.
I’m off and away to relax and read before dear hubby comes home! Remember to do something kind and uplifting for your spouse today. It’s just another simple way to give from the heart.
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day at home. I made a delicious steak and red potato supper along with apple sauce and carrots for Kyla. Here is a sneak peek of the beautiful bouquet that Kris gave Kyla and me. I hope that you were blessed as much as we were.

My new cell phone should be here this afternoon. I’ll let you know how I like it once I use it! I switched from Alltel monthly service to AT&T Go-Phone. I didn’t use nearly $50.00 worth of service each month. Also, we are trying to cut back this year, and what a perfect area for cutting back.
Speaking of cutting back, we paid off our last credit card and medical debt this month! Besides the house, car and student loan, we are debt-free. I am so excited. Dave Ramsey would be so proud. We are well on our way with our emergency fund. If you’d like to know more about what I am talking about, check out Dave’s website. Do your family a favor and pay off some debt this year! You’ll love having the extra money each month [we added $110 to our monthly cash flow] and you’ll sleep much easier. A great place to start is to use cash/debit for purchases. Put your credit card away or simply cut it up. Do not become slaves to your lenders. If I would have my way, Dave Ramsey would be the head of the treasury. As you can see, the government does not believe in living debt-free.
Dave also has a television show on Fox Business daily! Check him out and appreciate his straight to the point, beat you over the head, don’t care if I make you cry, yet encouraging show!
